How to sell your emails in 10 easy steps

Even though social media is very popular, email marketing is still one of the best and least expensive ways for small businesses to reach their target audience. Here's a plan that will work.

1. Write down your goal(s)

Figure out why you want to send emails. Do you want to keep your customers interested, let them know about a new product, or let them know about a special deal? No matter what, an email campaign that doesn't have any goals isn't worth much. Always start by setting your goals.

2. Pick a smart service provider

It's easy to get email services, and each one has its own price and set of benefits. Before making a choice, you should think about these things. As a general rule, you should look for services that are easy to use but have a lot of setup options, great customer service, sign-up forms that are built in, and fast delivery rates. Mail chimp, Campaign Monitor, and Send in Blue are some of the most well-known services.

3. Say hello to your followers

The best thing you can do is use social media. That's where your buyers are. Make it easy for people to sign up for your email list, offer benefits to do so, and let them know about your promotion. You should be able to put online service forms on your website and even get an offline form that you can use on your phone or computer at events from a good service provider. Lastly, don't forget to send a friendly welcome email. The people who have signed up for your email list have given you special access to their inboxes.

4. Write good information (and remember to mind your portions)

When you send emails, content is very important, but not too much. Make sure it's good and tight. The goal(s) you set in Step 1 must be reflected in every email you send. Give your subscribers something they can use right away, so make sure your emails are clear and to the point. Also, the subject lines of your emails should show this, so spend some time studying and writing them.

5. Add seasoning with tone

A lot of the time, the tone is what makes an email marketing strategy great or bad. Remember that you have special access to the inboxes of your users, so be nice and easy to reach when you talk to them. But don't be too friendly; always keep a business approach.

6. Add garnishes that don't overdo it.

It's time to think about style once you're happy with the material. A lot of email providers offer easy-to-use designs. Before sending, it's a good idea to try out different themes and tools. But remember to keep campaigns mostly the same, and don't do too much. Like with words, less is more.

7. Serve at the right time

Don't just click "Send" when you're done; think about what the people who will be getting it will do. Will they be taking the bus? Are you having lunch? Having a good payday? There are many things to think about when figuring out the best time to send, depending on the content. When sending to people around the world, keep time zones in mind; some services offer "time warping" to help with this.

8. Keep an eye on your leads

Find out how to use the tracking tools that come with the email service you choose to better understand how your users read your emails. You'll quickly learn what makes your efforts work and what doesn't. Also, don't be afraid to ask for straight feedback in the form of polls. These can give you great ideas for future projects.

9. Do the dishes and stay clean afterward

Keep your user list clean and up to date. A good email service will handle bounces and unsubscribes, which will help with this. It's best to keep all of your users on one list. That way, you can divide them into groups and send them personalized material. Don't be afraid to get rid of subscribers who aren't using your emails. You may lose some subscribers, but your open rates will go up.

10. Play around with different recipes

In all of your email marketing efforts, don't feel like you have to use the same design, tone, or method. Be open to trying new things and seeing what works. A/B testing lets you compare two versions of the same email promotion at the same time to see which one works best. Many email services offer this feature.
